Eco Value for Sustainability in fashion| OVS

Eco Valore

Eco Valore allows customers to assess the environmental impact of each item at a glance. This index is the result of a project in partnership with the University of Padua and consists of three key pieces of data: water consumption and CO2 emissions (both from the production process) and circularity. Since 2021, Eco Valore has been extended to 100% of the products in our e-store and since 2022, Eco Valore is also shown in the digital invoice sent to people who purchase in store with OVS_ID.

What do these three indices reveal?

CO₂ emissions

This shows how much CO₂ has been released to make the product.

Up to 4 kg of CO₂ are emitted to make a T-shirt, the same amount as consumed for a 30 km car trip. Each item uses resources and we work hard to reduce their impact: an OVS organic cotton T-shirt emits just 0.75 kg.

This shows how much water was used to make the product.

Making one T-shirt can take up to 1400 litres of water, the same amount as for 25 showers. Each item uses resources and we work hard to reduce their impact: an OVS organic cotton T-shirt takes just 220 litres.

Circularity

This shows the recycling potential of a product.

The circularity index is a value that ranges from 1 (the least recyclable) to 10 (the most recyclable), calculated according to these factors: number and type of materials used (for example, cotton only or 50% and 50% polyester, lining or filling, etc.) and the recyclability of individual materials (polyester is easier to recycle than cotton, for example).
